AS THE ONLY HUMAN RIGHTS ENTITY EXCLUSIVELY DEVOTED TO EQUATORIAL GUINEA, WE ARE A BRIDGE AND A PLATFORM FOR CHANGEMAKERS TO ENVISION AND BUILD A JUST SOCIETY.

OUR PROGRAMS IN 2021 INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: DOCUMENTED HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS: WE SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT TO THE UN WORKING GROUP ON ARBITRARY DETENTION ON BEHALF OF OVER ONE HUNDRED POLITICAL PRISONERS IMPRISIONED SINCE 2017 AND SUBJECT TO A SHAM TRIAL IN 2018; WE GATHERED EVIDENCE AND DRAFT REPORTS OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, FOCUSING ON CASES OF TORTURE, EXCESSIVE PRETRIAL DETENTIONS, AND THE USE OF MILITARY TRIBUNALS TO PROSECUTE CIVILIANS; WE PROVIDED TRAINING FOR 2 EQUATOGUINEAN LAWYERS LIVING IN THE COUNTRY ON HOW TO LEVERAGE THE AFRICAN UNION AND ITS HUMAN RIGHTS MECHANISMS. SUPPORTED YOUTH GROUPS: WE PROVIDED FUNDING TO YOUTH GROUPS IN THE DIASPORA TO ORGANIZE HUMAN RIGHTS ROUNDTABLES AND NEWS CLIPS; WE FUNDED AND SUPPORTED LOCAL YOUTH ART AND LGBTQ+ GROUPS INSIDE THE COUNTRY FOR IN-COUNTRY ACTIVITIES AROUND HUMAN RIGHTS; WE HELPED ORGANIZE A FESTIVAL AND ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS IN MADRID AROUND THE CELEBRATION OF EG INDEPENDENCE. KLEPTOCRACY: WE WORKED WITH TWO FILMMAKERS TO PRODUCE SERIES THAT TACKLES KLEPTOCRACY; WE WORKED WITH THE CENTRAL AFRICAN COALITION TO PRODUCE A SMALL VIDEO AND ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN ON THE IMPACT OF KLEPTOCRACY IN DAILY LIVES OF EQAUTOGUINEANS.
