PCCE FULFILLS ITS MISSION BY 1) PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR FACULTY AND STAFF TO INTEGRATE CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT THROUGHOUT THEIR PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES; 2) CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CONSORTIA OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO WORK WITH COMMUNITIES TO ADDRESS COMMON REGIONAL CONCERNS; 3) SECURING PROFESSIONAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO ADVANCE THE PRACTICE OF CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ACROSS OUR TWO-STATE REGION; AND 4) SERVING AS AN EXPERT RESOURCE TO PROMOTE JUSTICE, EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA.
AMERICORPS VISTA (VOLUNTEERS IN SERVICE TO AMERICA) IS A NATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAM THAT, FOR OVER 50 YEARS, HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF COMMUNITIES TO FIGHT POVERTY BY PROVIDING NONPROFITS, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, AND PUBLIC AGENCIES WITH FULL-TIME VISTA MEMBERS TO CREATE AND EXPAND PROGRAMS THAT ULTIMATELY BRING LOW INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND COMMUNITIES OUT OF POVERTY. PARTNERS FOR CAMPUS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (PCCE) IS SUPPORTED BY COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES ACROSS NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA. PCCE'S VISTA PARTNERS ARE DEDICATED TO THE ELIMINATION OF POVERTY BY DEVELOPING AND PROMOTING CAMPUS-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS; IMPLEMENTATION OF A SUSTAINABLE PROGRAM THAT EMPAHSIZES COMMUNITY COLLABORATION; MOBILIZES AND TRAINS VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE COMMUNITIES; AND SEEKS FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES TO SUSTAIN LONG-TERM PROGRAMMING. FOR THE 22-23 FISCAL YEAR, PCCE PLACED 20 FULL-TIME (365 DAYS) VISTA MEMBERS AND 14 SUMMER ASSOCIATE MEMBERS (10-WEEK LONG PROGRAM) ACROSS HOST SITES COMPOSED OF HIGHER ED. INSTITUTIONS AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA AND NEW YORK REGIONS. VISTA MEMBERS IMMERSED THEMSELVES IN THEIR COMMUNITY-ORIENTED PROJECTS TO FOCUS ON AMERICORP'S ANTI-POVERTY FOCUS AREAS OF EDUCATION (K-12 AND POST-SECONDARY READINESS AND SUCCESS), HEALTHY FUTURES (NUTRITIOUS FOOD ACCESS AND EDUCATION, AND ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE), ECONOMIC MOBILITY (JOB READINESS AND SUCCESS AND HOUSING), AND COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILIES. IN 2022-2023 THE PCCE VISTA PROGRAM REPORTED 220 COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS MADE MORE EFFICIENT, EFFECTIVE, AND/OR INCREASED THEIR PROGRAM OUTREACH. IN REGARDS TO RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT, THE PCCE VISTA PROGRAM GENERATED $786,782 OF CASH RESOURCES AND IN-KIND RESOURCES DURING THE PROGRAM TERM.
