THE MISSION OF BLIND AND VISION REHABILITATION SERVICES OF PITTSBURGH IS TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF PERSONS WITH VISION LOSS AND OTHER DISABILITIES BY FOSTERING INDEPENDENCE AND INDIVIDUAL CHOICE.

REHABILITATION AND INDUSTRIES PROGRAMS - RESIDENTAL AND COMMUNITY-BASED PERSONAL ADJUSTMENT SERVICES THAT ENABLE PEOPLE TO LEARN HOW TO USE THEIR OTHER SENSES ALONG WITH SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT AND PROCEDURES TO PERFORM THE USUAL ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING. COMPREHENSIVE, INTERDISCIPLINARY LOW VISION SERVICES THAT ENABLE PEOPLE WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS TO LEARN HOW TO EFFECTIVELY USE THEIR VISION IN THEIR DAILY ACTIVITIES. PROVIDING ACCESS TECHNOLOGY SERVICES AND COMPETITIVE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH VISION LOSS.


VOCATIONAL SERVICES - VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENT, TRAINING, PLACEMENT AND EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT WHICH PERMIT PEOPLE WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS TO WORK SUCCESSFULLY IN THE COMMUNITY OR IN SPECIALIZED WORK PROGRAMS WITHIN THE FACILITY.


COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT PROGRAM - COORDINATED AND COMPREHENSIVE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL AND CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES WHICH ENABLE PEOPLE TO IDENTIFY, CONSIDER, AND SELECT SERVICES WHICH THEY FEEL WILL BE OF GREATEST ASSISTANCE TO THEM.
