TO PREPARE AND DELIVER NUTRITIOUS, AFFORDABLE MEALS TO THE EDERLY AND DISABLED LIVING WITHIN THE STATE COLLEGE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HELP MAINTAIN THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE AND ALLOW THEM TO REMAIN IN THEIR OWN HOMES.IN FY 2021, WITH THE ARRIVAL OF COVID VACCINES, STATE COLLEGE AREA MEALS ON WHEELS BEGAN TRANSITIONING FROM A PANDEMIC DELIVERY MODEL TOWARDS MORE REGULARLY SCHEDULED FRESH MEAL DELIVERIES. BY AUGUST 2021, SCMOW HAD MOVED FROM THE ONCE-WEEKLY PANDEMIC MODEL TO DELIVERIES THREE DAYS PER WEEK (MWF), PROVIDING CLIENTS WITH ONE FRESHLY PREPARED HOT MEAL AND ONE FRESHLY PREPARED COLD MEAL EACH DELIVERY DAY WITH AN OPTIONAL SUPPLEMENTAL FROZEN MEAL EACH DAY. THIS PROVIDED CLIENTS MORE APPETIZING MEALS AND ALSO REGULAR FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTIONS THAT ARE SO VITAL TO THE MISSION OF MEALS ON WHEELS. SCMOW SERVED A TOTAL OF 247 CLIENTS DURING 2021, DELIVERING A TOTAL OF 44,276 MEALS (16,947 FRESH COLD MEALS, 19,595 FRESH HOT MEALS AND 7,734 FROZEN MEALS). MEAL DELIVERIES WERE SUPPLEMENTED WITH 2,400 BAGS OF SHELF STABLE GROCERIES AS NEEDED.
