THE SOCIETY OF AMERICAN LAW TEACHERS (SALT) IS COMMITTED TO ADVANCING TEACHING EXCELLENCE, SOCIAL JUSTICE AND DIVERSITY. SALT IS A COMMUNITY OF PROGRESSIVE LAW TEACHERS, LAW SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, LIBRARIANS, ACADEMIC SUPPORT EXPERTS, STUDENTS AND AFFILIATES. SALT HAS BEEN WORKING FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS TO IMPROVE THE LEGAL PROFESSION, THE LAW ACADEMY AND EXPAND THE POWER OF LAW TO UNDER-SERVED COMMUNITIES. SALT ENGAGES IN WORK WITHIN AND BEYOND THE LAW SCHOOL TO ADVANCE SOCIAL JUSTICE.

SALT CONTINUED ITS PASSIONATE WORK ON ISSUES CENTRAL TO THEIR CORE MISSIONS: DIVERSITY, JUSTICE, AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE. SOME OF THE YEAR'S INITIATIVES REPRESENTATIVE THEIR EFFORTS ARE LISTED BELOW: - SALT AND THE THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION SOCIETY CO-SPONSORED THE 2022 ROBERT COVER WORKSHOP, SAFEGUARDING DECOCRACY: LESSONS LEARNED FROM 1/6 IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE AALS ANNUAL MEETING - SALT HOSED A SOCIAL JUSTICE WEBINAR ENTITLED CRITICAL JUSTICE: ADVOCACY IN LAW AND SOCIETY- SALT SPONSORED THE 16TH ANNUAL LUTIE A. LYTLE BLACK WOMEN LAW FACULTY WOKRSHOP AT BOSTON UNIVERISTY SCHOOL OF LAW- SALT JOINED THE CHORUS OF LEGAL EDUCATORS, ACTIVISTS, AND SCHOLARS IN MOURNING THE LOSS OF AN ICON IN LEGAL EDUCATION PRESERVING RACE-CONSCIOUS ADMISSIONS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: IN LIGHT OF THE SUPREME COURT'S DECISION TO HEAR ARGUMENTS ON RACE-CONSCIOUS ADMISSIONS IN THE STUDENTS FOR FAIR ADMISSION V. HARVARD/UNC CASES, SALT ENGAGED IN A MULTIDIMENSIONAL STRATEGY TO DEFEND DIVERSITY IN THE CLASSROOM. IMPROVING LEGAL EDUCATION: SALT'S ISSUES IN LEGAL EDUCATION COMMITTEE CONTINUED ITS ADVOCACY WORK TO IMPROVE LEGAL EDUCATION. SALT ALSO CONTINUED ITS WORK TO CLOSELY MONITOR PROPOSED CHANGES TO ACCREDITATION STANDARDS. BAR EXAMINATION REFORM AND ACCESS TO THE PROFESSION: MEMBER OF SALT'S BAR EXAM COMMITTEE CONTINUED TO COLLABORATE WITH COLLEAGUES TO ADDRESS ONGOING CONCERNS ABOUT CURRENT LICENSING METHODOLOGIES. SALT LIAISONS: SALT'S WORK ON ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND INCLUSION OF DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES IN THE LEGAL ACADEMY AND BAR IS STRENGTHENED BY ITS WORK WITH LIAISONS FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT EDUCATORS (AASE), THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION SOCIETY (ACS), LEGAL WRITING INSTITUTE (LWI), AND THE CLINICAL LEGAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (CLEA).NEW BOARD MEMBERS: SALT IS ALSO PROUD TO WELCOME THE NEW (AND RETURNING) MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS. SALT MEMBERS: ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR WAS THE SUPPORT PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY SALT'S MEMBERS.
