THE ASSOCIATION OPERATES 3 MUSEUMS WITHIN SAN MATEO COUNTY, WHICH ATTRACTED ABOUT 65,000 PEOPLE INCLUDING 15,000 SCHOOL CHILDREN ON TOURS, 1,000 VISITORS TO THE RESEARCH LIBRARY, AND 3,000 WHO ATTENDED ANY ONE OF ITS 20 SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO PUBLISHES SCHOLARLY PIECES ABOUT THE COUNTY'S HISTORY, OPERATES AN ARCHIVES AND LIBRARY, HAS AN ACTIVE DOCENT PROGRAM TARGETED AT 3RD AND 4TH PRIMARY GRADE SCHOOL CHILDREN, ORGANIZES LECTURE SERIES, ADVISES THE PUBLIC ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION ISSUES AND OTHER PROGRAMS THAT RELATE TO PRESERVING AND INTERPRETING LOCAL HISTORY.
