THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND URBAN FARM IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SERVING THE RESIDENTS OF ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, MT WASHINGTON AND NEWTOWN, OHIO. IT IS DEDICATED TO PRESERVING THE HISTORY OF OUR AREA, ENCOURAGING OUR YOUTH TO EMBRACE HISTORY, BRINGING THE PAST TO LIFE AND PROVIDING OUR COMMUNITY WITH EXPERIENCES AND PLACES TO GATHER, LEARN AND GROW.

Part 3 - Line 4a

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY MAINTAINS THE HISTORIC MILLER-LEUSER LOG HOUSE (CA. 1796) AND SURROUNDING PROPERTY. FREE TOURS ARE OFFERED ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE FROM MAY THROUGH OCTOBER AND BY APPOINTMENT. THE GROWING COLLECTION OF HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS AND THE GENEALOGICAL AND RESEARCH LIBRARIES ARE HOUSED IN THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S OFFICE BUILDING.


ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY OPERATES THE URBAN FARM WHICH CONSIST OF UNRESTORED THREE HISTORIC HOUSES A BARN, A COMMUNITY GARDEN AND A CHICKEN COOP WHICH IS A PROJECT CONDUCTED BY THE THIRD GRADE STUDENTS FROM MERCER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND THEIR PARENTS.


ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY VOLUNTEERS STAFF THE OPEN HOURS OF THE ANDERSON CENTER HISTORY ROOM, LOCATED IN THE TOWNSHIP'S ADMINISTRATION BUILDING. THE HISTORY ROOM PROVIDES AN INTERESTING LOOK AT THE PAST OF THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP AREA. THE HISTORY ROOM IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC WITH NO ADMISSION CHARGE.


THE ANDERSON TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY HOLDS MONTHLY MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR (EXCEPT JANUARY AND JULY) THAT INCLUDE PROGRAMS OF HISTORICAL INTEREST. THE MEETINGS ARE FREE AND THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND.
