SQUASHSMARTS IS DEDICATED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES OF UNDERSERVED YOUTH FROM PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS BY PROVIDING INTENSIVE, LONG-TERM ACADEMIC TUTORING AND SQUASH INSTRUCTION, WHILE IMPARTING HIGH STANDARDS OF PERSONAL INTEGRITY, HEALTH AND FITNESS, AND SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.

SQUASHSMARTS PROVIDES FREE OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROGRAMS WITH A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF KEEPING KIDS IN SCHOOL, IN SHAPE, AND ON TRACK FOR GRADUATION. IN 2023, SQUASHSMARTS PROVIDED 342 INSTRUCTIONAL SESSIONS TO 920 YOUTH AND GRADUATES OF PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS (INCLUDING 120 ALUMNI, 164 CORE PROGRAMS STUDENTS, AND 636 COMMUNITY PROGRAM STUDENTS). SQUASHSMARTS HAD ITS LARGEST GRADUATING CLASS OF SEVENTEEN HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WHO COLLECTIVELY EARNED 394,769 IN FEDERAL, STATE, INSTITUTIONAL AID, 64% OF WHICH CAME FROM NEED-BASED AND MERIT INSTITUTIONAL AID. IN TOTAL, FINANCIAL AID PACKAGES INCLUDED 1 FULL FOUR-YEAR SCHOLARSHIP; 50% OF STUDENTS HAD FINANCIAL AID GAPS OF LESS THAN 5,000; AND 95-98% OF TUITION/ROOM AND BOARD EXPENSES COVERED. 100% OF THE CLASS OF 2023 COMPLETED THE FEDERAL APPLICATION FOR STUDENT AID (FAFSA) AND MATRICULATED SUCCESSFULLY TO COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY SETTINGS. SQUASHSMARTS FUNDING ENABLED STUDENTS TO A WIDE RANGE OF EXTERNAL SUMMER LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDING CHILDREN WHO WERE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN PHILADELPHIA OUTWARD BOUND AND SQUASH+ EDUCATION ALLIANCE (SEA) NATIONAL HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING SQUAD.
