THE PENNSYLVANIA YOUTH CHORALE, CONSISTING OF TWO CHOIR LEVELS, PROVIDES A COMMUNITY BASED INSTRUCTIONAL ARTS PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN. IT EMPHASIZES MUSICIANSHIP, TRAINING, AND VOCAL STUDY FOR THE CULTURAL ENRICHMENT OF ITS MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY. THE EDUCATION AND MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT OF ITS 14 CHILDREN IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH INTENSIVE REHEARSALS OF APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS PER WEEK FROM SEPTEMBER THROUGH JUNE, AND AN ADDITIONAL 32 HOURS ON WEEKEND. THE CHOIR IS A SERVICE-ORIENTED ORGANIZATION PERFORMING 5-7 CONCERTS PER YEAR. THESE PERFORMANCES ARE LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL IN SCOPE. THE CHOIR PERFORMS FOR HOSPITALS, RETIREMENT AND NURSING HOMES, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. IT ALSO PARTICIPATES IN A WIDE VARIETY OF CULTURAL EVENTS WITH OTHER MUSICIANS, BOTH PROFESSIONAL AND NON-PROFESSIONAL. EACH YEAR THE HIGHEST-LEVEL CHOIR PERFORMS A TRAVELING TOUR. HOWEVER, DUE TO COVID-19, ALL PLANNED TRAVEL TO EXCEPT TO NY, WAS CANCELLED. ALSO, DUE TO COVID-19 MUCH OF THE STANDARD STRUCTURE WAS CHANGE - ONLINE REHEARSALS OR IN-PERSON, MASKED REHEARSALS. LIMITED CONCERT OPPORTUNITY.
