AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM: NHS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY DISTRIBUTES PROGRAM INFORMATION AND ADMINISTERS THE HOME OWNERSHIP OUTREACH PROGRAM (HOOP) IN THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN, CITY OF BETHLEHEM, CITY OF EASTON, AND LEHIGH AND NORTHAMPTON COUNTY. THE STAFF QUALIFIES APPLICANTS FOR THIS HOMEBUYER MORTGAGE PROGRAM. NHS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY FACILITATES AND ORIGINATES SOFT SECOND AND/OR THIRD LEINS AGAINST THE PROPERTY TO SECURE THE REPAYABLE LOAN AND/OR THE FORGIVABLE LOAN IN THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN AND LEHIGH COUNTY. THESE FUNDS ARE USED SPECIFICALLY TO ASSIST WITH DOWN PAYMENT AND CLOSING COSTS FOR FIRST TIME HOMEBUYERS THAT FALL WITHIN THE APPROVED LOW-TO-MODERATE HUD INCOME GUIDELINES. 2021 PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS: WE ADMINISTERED 13 FORGIVABLE LOANS FOR A TOTAL OF $70,000 FOR FIRST-TIME HOME-BUYERS PURCHASING HOMES IN THE CITY OF ALLENTOWN OR LEHIGH COUNTY.
FINANCIAL COUNSELING AND EDUCATION SERVICES: NHS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY PROVIDES FINANCIAL COUNSELING AND/OR REFERRALS FOR CONSUMERS WITH BUDGET, CREDIT, OR HOME OWNERSHIP NEEDS. INFORMATION IS PROVIDED ON THE VARIETY OF LOAN PROGRAMS AVAILABLE THROUGH LOCAL MUNICIPALITIES AND OTHER AGENCIES. CREDIT COUNSELING IS OFFERED TO ALL RESIDENTS WITHIN THE LEHIGH VALLEY. OTHER EDUCATIONAL NEEDS ARE REFERRED TO APPROPRIATE SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES.
