THE PENNSYLVANIA ACADEMY OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY HEAD AND NECK SURGERY SERVES THE COMMON PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS OF OTOLARYNGOLOGISTS AND THEIR PATIENTS IN PENNSYLVANIA. 1. THE ACADEMY HOSTS AN ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING WITH SESSIONS THAT ADDRESS CURRENT TOPICS IN OTOLARYNGOLOGY. THE 2021 MEETING OFFERED PHYSICIANS WHO ATTENDED UP TO 10 CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDITS. THERE WERE OVER 123 VIRTUAL ATTENDEES AT THE 2021 MEETING. 2. THE ACADEMY PRODUCES TWO NEWSLETTERS A YEAR THAT CONTAIN SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES SUBMITTED BY MEMBERS, REPORTS FROM THE PENNSYLVANIA MEDICAL SOCIETY AND AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY HEAD AND NECK SURGERY, AND LEGISLATIVE UPDATES. 3. THE ACADEMY ENGAGES IN DIALOGUE WITH THIRD-PARTY PAYERS ON REIMBURSEMENT ISSUES IMPACTING THE PRACTICE OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY. A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PAO-HNS SERVES ON THE REGIONAL MEDICARE CONTRACTOR ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND OFFERS COMMENTS ON POLICIES RELATED TO THE SPECIALTY.
