THE NJAMHAA MISSION IS TO PROMOTE THE VALUE OF ITS MEMBERS AS THE HIGHEST QUALITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS FOR THE RESIDENTS OF NEW JERSEY THROUGH ADVOCACY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

NJAMHAA HAS PROVIDED EFFECTIVE ADVOCACY AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO ITS MEMBERS AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE, CREATING A FACE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND/OR ADDICTIONS WHO OFTEN HAVE NO VOICE OF THEIR OWN. THE ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN IN THE NATIONAL FOREFRONT FIGHTING STIGMA AND DISCRIMINATION AGAINST PERSONS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS AND/OR ADDICTIONS, HELPING THEM TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES, EDUCATING THE PUBLIC, AS WELL AS LEADERS AND LEGISLATORS ABOUT THE VALUE OF THE TREATMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES PROVIDED TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS BY ITS MEMBERS. NJAMHAA HAS ALSO BEEN ENGAGED BY THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY TO PROVIDE ITS SERVICES TO SELECT MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND TO DESIGN, DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE THEIR EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE USE.
