STEPHEN PETRONIO DANCE COMPANY, INC. IS DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING THE VISION OF CHOREOGRAPHER STEPHEN PETRONIO: THE CREATION, PRESENTATION, AND PRESERVATION OF HIS EXISTING AND NEW WORKS ALONGSIDE TWO LEGACY INITIATIVES MEANT TO SECURE THE HISTORY AND FUTURE OF THE POSTMODERN DANCE LINEAGE BLOODLINES AND THE PETRONIO RESIDENCY CENTER. BEGINNING IN FISCAL YEAR 2015, THE ORGANIZATION BEGAN TO LICENSE WORKS BY PIONEERING AMERICAN POST-MODERN CHOREOGRAPHERS, SUCH AS MERCE CUNNINGHAM AND TRISHA BROWN, TO BRING THESE PIECES INTO THE COMPANY'S REPERTORY AS PART OF THE BLOODLINES PROJECT. BEGINNING IN FISCAL YEAR 2017, THE ORGANIZATION ESTABLISHED THE PETRONIO RESIDENCY CENTER, A RETREAT FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS AND THEIR COLLABORATORS TO STUDY, WORK, AND EXPERIMENT WITHOUT THE OVERBEARING PRESSURES OF DAY-TO-DAY URBAN LIFE, SUPPORTING FUTURE GENERATIONS OF ARTISTS AND THE BROADER DANCE FIELD.

Part 3 - Line 4a

ESTABLISHED IN 2017, THE PETRONIO RESIDENCY CENTER (PRC), LOOKING TO THE FUTURE OF DANCE, OPENED TO PROVIDE A SAFE HAVEN FOR INTENSIVE DEVELOPMENTAL CHOREOGRAPHIC RESEARCH. LOCATED IN THE HUDSON VALLEY, PRC SUPPORTS FUTURE CHOREOGRAPHIC INVENTION IN THE FIELD WITH A PROGRAM OF ARTIST RESIDENCIES AND EDUCATION INITIATIVES. PRC HAS BEGUN AN ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE BY ESTABLISHING A PERMANENT CONSERVATION EASEMENT FOR 77 ACRES OF THE 172-ACRE PROPERTY IN 2021, AND IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES.


REHEARSALS AND PRESENTATION OF AN ANNUAL SEASON OF PERFORMANCES, WHICH THIS YEAR WERE HELD VIRTUAL DUE TO THE PANDEMIC'S LOCKDOWN. PERFORMANCES PRESENTED ON TOUR NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, INCLUDING EDUCATIONAL RESIDENCY ACTIVITIES, COMMISSIONS OF NEW WORK AND RECONSTRUCTION OF HISTORIC REPERTORY.
