MOUNT TAMALPAIS COLLEGE OFFERS A 61-UNIT ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DEGREE IN WRITING, MATH, SCIENCE, AND THE HUMANITIES, AS WELL AS A FOUNDATIONAL FIVE-COURSE COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAM IN MATH AND WRITING, YEAR-ROUND ACADEMIC SUPPORT, AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN STUDENTS ACADEMIC AND SOCIAL SKILLS. WE PROVIDE 20 COLLEGE COURSES EACH SEMESTER THAT OFFER STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE THE COURSEWORK NECESSARY FOR TRANSFER TO ANY CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY OR UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA CAMPUS. THE SOLE REQUIREMENT FOR PARTICIPATION IS A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED. NO STUDENT IS EXCLUDED BASED ON AGE, LENGTH OF SENTENCE, COMMITMENT OFFENSE, OR TIME LEFT TO SERVE. OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS, MTC HAS HELPED THESE STUDENTS FULFILL THEIR POTENTIAL BY CREATING A VIBRANT ACADEMIC INSTITUTION THAT HONORS THE CULTURAL AND INTELLECTUAL DIVERSITY OF ITS COMMUNITY, AND THAT FOSTERS INDEPENDENT, CRITICAL THOUGHT, AND CIVIL DIALOGUE.

COLLEGE PROGRAM: MOUNT TAMALPAIS COLLEGE IS A NEWLY ACCREDITED COLLEGE OFFERING AN ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DEGREE AND OFFERS APPROXIMATELY 20 COLLEGE LEVEL AND COLLEGE PREP CLASSES EACH SEMESTER. IN ADDITION, THE COLLEGE PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING HIGHER EDUCATION IN PRISONS.


COVID RESPONSE: THE ORGANIZATION HAS PROVIDED DIRECT SUPPORT TO INCARCERATED PEOPLE AND STAFF OF MANY PRISONS THROUGHOUT CALIFORNIA DURING THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF THE COVID PANDEMIC.
