THE FMC TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORT AND RESOURCES TO FARMERS MARKET OPERATORS NATIONWIDE. THIS INCLUDES LEGAL SUPPORT THROUGH THE FARMERS MARKET LEGAL TOOLKIT, SUPPORT FOR GRANTEES OF THE GUS SCHUMACHER NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAM, AS WELL AS RESOURCES THAT ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE RESOURCE LIBRARY ON THE FMC WEBSITE.


THE FMC MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES FARMERS MARKET OPERATORS NATIONWIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACCESS FMC RESOURCES, SUPPORT,FMC'S POLICY ADVOCACY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE ENGAGEMENT OF FARMERS MARKET OPERATORS IN THE POLICY PROCESS AND TO EDUCATE DECISION MAKERS ABOUT THE UNIQUE AND VARIED NEEDS OF FARMERS MARKETS. FMC WORKS WITH MEMBERS AND EXTERNAL POLICYMAKERS TO FACILITATE THE FLOW OF INFORMATION BETWEEN OUR MEMBERS/STAKEHOLDERS AND MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNMENT. AND TO PROVIDE INPUT ON FMC ACTIVITIES. FMC HAS 1,300 MEMBERS ACROSS ALL 50 STATES.


THE FMC COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM SERVES TO SHARE TIMELY AND RELEVANT INFORMATION TO FMC MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS AS WELL AS TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT OTHER PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES. IN ADDITION THE COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION AND EXECUTION OF NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK AND THE CREATION OF THE NATIONAL FARMERS MARKET WEEK TOOLKIT. EACH YEAR THE TOOLKIT RECEIVES OVER 5,000 DOWNLOADS.


FARMERS MARKETS HAVE A STAKE IN IMPROVING PUBLIC POLICIES ON A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES FROM AGRICULTURE TO PUBLIC HEALTH. MORE THAN 8,600 FARMERS MARKETS SERVE SMALL TOWNS AND BIG CITIES, AS WELL AS PEOPLE FROM ALL AGES, RACES, AND BACKGROUNDS. MOREOVER, THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS THAT FARMERS MARKETS GENERATE IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS AMERICA CREATE JOBS AND GENERATE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY. FMC WORKS TO IMPROVE AND EXPAND THESE PROGRAMS, TO HELP ENSURE THE SUCCESS OF FARMERS MARKETS, TODAY AND TOMORROW.
