THE PURPOSE OF THE COUNCIL IS TO PROMOTE INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE MEMBER MUNICIPALITIES; TO ARTICULATE POSITIONS AND WHEN APPROPRIATE, IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS TO REGIONAL, COUNTYWIDE AND STATE PROBLEMS. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS TO LOCAL PROBLEMS PRESENTED BY MEMBER MUNICIPALITIES. THE COUNCIL PROVIDES TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO FOSTER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND AN UNDERSTANDING OF MUNICIPAL ISSUES. THE COUNCIL COORDINATES GROWTH AND TRANSPORTATION ISSUES AFFECTING THE REGIONS THEY SERVE. THE COUNCIL ALSO UPHOLDS AND ADVOCATES PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE LOCAL GOVERNMENT. FINALLY, THE COUNCIL PERFORMS ANY AND ALL SUCH OTHER ACTS CONSIDERED NECESSARY OR DESIRABLE TO CARRY OUT THE ABOVE OBJECTIVES.

SPRINGFIELD DOWN DRIVE - THIS IS A YEARLY EVENT TO EXPOSE THE MEMBERS TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND MEET WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS REGARDING LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES AS WELL AS MEET WITH AGENCY HEADS TO DISCUSS MUTUAL TOPICS OF INTEREST, AND TO FORM RELATIONSHIPS. THIS YEAR'S EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19.


LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST - OPPORTUNITY FOR LEGISLATORS TO SIT IN A PANEL FORMAT AND UPDATE ON LEGISLATION, AND FOR MEMBERS TO ASK QUESTIONS. THIS YEAR'S EVENT WAS CANCELLED DUE TO COVID 19.
