GRASSROOTS GARDENS OF WESTERN NEW YORK, INC.'S MISSION IS TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE, POWER AND RESOURCES TO GROW HEALTHY FOOD, HEAL SYSTEMATIC HARM, AND STRENGTHEN NEIGHBORHOOD CONNECTIONS THROUGH COMMUNITY GARDENS.

COMMUNITY GARDENS - THE COMMUNITY GARDEN PROGRAM BUILT MORE RAISED BED VEGETABLE GARDENS AS A RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND IMPACT ON FOOD SOURCES.


SCHOOL GARDENS - IN 2021, WE HAD A RECORD 29 SCHOOL GARDENS IN OUR NETWORK. MANY REOPENED AFTER CLOSURES FROM COVID IN 2020. STAFF PROVIDED GARDEN-BASED SCIENCE EDUCATION IN COLLABORATION WITH MANY TEACHERS. WE ALSO PROVIDED FAMILY EDUCATION THROUGH THE SCHOOL GARDENSWITH SAY YES BUFFALO.


BUFFALO FREEDOM GARDENS - THIS RESIDENTIAL GARDENING PROJECT PROVIDED FREE GARDEN MATERIALS AND EDUCATION TO A TOTAL OF 84 HOUSEHOLDS IN 2021.
