THE BURKE NEUROLOGICAL INSTITUTE BNI CONDUCTS RESEARCH INVOLVING PROTECTION FROM AND REPAIR OF NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES SUCH AS STROKE TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY TBI SPINAL CORD INJURY ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE AND CEREBRAL PALSY. IN PURSUING THIS GOAL BURKE NEUROLOGICAL INSTITUTE SEEKS TO HARNESS THE BEST IN CONTEMPORARY NEUROSCIENCE TO ADVANCE INTERVENTIONS TO IMPROVE BRAIN RECOVERY AND RECOVERY FUNCTION. THIS ENDEAVOR IS ACTIVELY ADVANCED BY FREQUENT AND LIVELY INTERCHANGE BETWEEN SCIENTISTS WORKING ON NOVEL PHARMACOLOGICAL BIOLOGICAL AND ROBOTIC APPROACHES TO REPAIR THE DAMAGED BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD. FACULTY AT BURKE NEUROLOGICAL INSTITUTE ARE EXPERTS IN THE REPAIR OF NEUROLOGICAL IMPAIRMENTS AND ARE COMMITTED TO HELP TRANSLATE THESE APPROACHES TO THE BEDSIDE. A NUMBER OF IMPORTANT CLINICAL TRIALS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AND ARE ONGOING. HOWEVER WE ARE FAR FROM REACHING OUR CLINICAL GOALS AND POTENTIAL AS CONSEQUENT CHRONIC DISABILITY REMAINS A LARGE AND ALMOST SILENT EPIDEMIC.
