THE CARDINAL MCCLOSKEY EMERGENCY RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL (THE "SCHOOL") LOCATED IN OSSINING, NEW YORK IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. FORMED IN FEBRUARY 1985 TO OPERATE A SCHOOL FOR GRADES FOUR TO TWELVE, THE SCHOOL RECEIVES ITS FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF NEW YORK UNDER ARTICLE 89 AND ARTICLE 81 OF THE NEW YORK STATE EDUCATION LAW. THE SCHOOL IS SUPPORTED PRIMARILY BY TUITION. THE CARDINAL MCCLOSKEY EMERGENCY RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL IS EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAX UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF INTERNAL REVENUE CODE UNDER A GROUP EXEMPTION COVERING ALL AGENCIES AND INSTRUMENTALITIES AND ALL EDUCATIONAL, CHARITABLE AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS OPERATED, SUPERVISED OR CONTROLLED BY OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE UNITED STATES, ITS TERRITORIES AND POSSESSIONS. AS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, THE SCHOOL IS ALSO EXEMPT FROM NEW YORK STATE INCOME AND SALES TAXES.

EDUCATION SERVICES FOR CHILDREN PLACED IN THE EMERGENCY GROUP FACILITY ON A SHORT TERM BASIS. IN AUGUST OF 2020 THE SCHOOL PAUSED OPERATIONS AND IS PLANNING ITS REORGANIZATION FOR AFTER THE PANDEMIC.
