THE PORT WASHINGTON TEACHERS ASSOCIATION IS A LOCAL AFFILIATE OF NEW YORK STATE UNITED TEACHERS AND THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS. ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COLLECTION OF MEMBER DUES, FOWARDING AMOUNTS TO THE NYS UNION, NEGOTIATIONS WITH RESPECT TO LABOR CONTRACTS, SCHOLARSHIP DONATIONS,LOCAL EDUCATIONAL ISSUE CAMPAIGNS, NEWSLETTER, EDUCATING MEMBERS ABOUT NYS UNION ENDORSEMENTS, MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS, CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS, OTHER MEMBER BENEFITS.
