1. PROMOTING THE STUDY OF AND INTEREST IN THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF EAST HADDAM AND THE LOWER CONNECTICUT RIVER VALLEY. 2. PERPETUATING THE NAMES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE ORIGINAL SETTLERS. 3. ACQUIRING, HOLDING AND PRESERVING ARTIFACTS, RELICS, BUILDINGS, AND RECORDS OF ALL KINDS RELATING TO LOCAL HISTORY.

2021 ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE BEING AWARDED 3 GRANTS FROM CT HUMANITIES (CAPACITY GRANT, SHARP GRANT & OPERATING GRANT), RETAINED AN ARCHITECT TO CREATE A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR THE REMODELING OF THE MUSEUM; CREATED A VISION STATEMENT; CONDUCTED SEVERAL VIDEO INTERVIEWS OF LONGTIME TOWN RESIDENTS FOR THE SOCIETY'S ELDERS PROJECT; CO-SPONSORED THE CREATION OF A DOCUMENTARY "ZERO BOYS" THAT PROFILES THE 1958 HALE-RAY BOYS SOCCER TEAM; SPONSORED A SERIES OF WILDLIFE AND NATURAL HISTORY PROGRAMS THAT WERE HELD ON CONSECUTIVE TUESDAY AFTERNOONS IN THE SUMMER OF 2021; SPONSORED THE CREATION OF A DOCUMENTARY PROFILE ON THE HISTORY OF THE EAST HADDAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY; REGRADED THE PARKING LOT; POWER WASHED THE BUILDING AND PAINTED THE FRONT PORCH AND RAMP; CONDUCTED AN AUDIENCE SURVEY OF SOCIETY MEMBERS AND TOWNSPEOPLE FOR INPUT ON TOPICS FOR THE NEW PERMANENT EXHIBIT GALLERY AND THE COLLECTIONS COMMITTEE BEGAN A PROJECT TO CATALOG ALL THE ITEMS IN THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTION IN AN ELECTRONIC DATABASE.


SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO A HALE RAY SENIOR WHO WILL BE ATTENDING AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING IN THE NEXT YEAR. SCHOLARSHIP IS AWARDED TO A STUDENT WHO SHOWS AN INTEREST AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY AND/OR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY OF EAST HADDAM.
