Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY IS RTGD'S SIGNATURE EVENT, HELD ANNUALLY TO BRING ATTENTION TO THE PLIGHT OF LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES. HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER IN APRIL IN AN EFFORT OF TRUE COMMUNITY STABILIZATION AND NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION. IN ONE DAY, AN ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOOD'S NEED FOR HOME REPAIRS ARE PREFORMED.

THROUGH OUR VETERAN'S PROGRAMS, WE ARE COMMITTED TO IMPROVING THE LIVES OF OUR MILITARY VETERANS. OUR REBUILDING 4 HEROS PROGRAM REBUILDS AND/OR MODIFIES AN EXISTING HOME (OFTEN ABANDONED OR DILAPIDATED) TO MEET THE NEEDS OF A BRAVE VETERAN AND HIS/HER FAMILY. OUR REBUILDING 4 HEROS PROGRAM FROM SEPTEMBER 11 TO NOVEMBER 11 BRINGS TOGETHER THOUSANDS OF VOLUNTEERS TO REPAIR AND RENOVATE HOMES OF VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR GOAL IS TO PROVIDE A VETERAN WITH A SAFE AND HEALTHY HOME AND HELP SUPPORT OUR MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED OUR COUNTRY. FOR THE FIRST TIME, IN 2016 FIRST RESPONDERS WERE INCLUDED IN OUR REBUILDING 4 HEROS PROGRAM.

OUR SAFE AT HOME PROGRAMS PROVIDE YEAR-ROUND HOME SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY MODIFICATIONS FOR LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS WHO ARE MOSTLY ELDERLY AND/OR DISABLED. AFTER A SAFETY ASSESSMENT, MODIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE INSTALLATION OF GRAB BARS, SMOKE DETECTORS, WHEELCHAIR RAMPS OR LOWERING COUNTERTOPS AND LIGHT SWITCHES, OR WIDENING DOORFRAMES.
