SUPPLEMENTAL MATH AND READING TUTORIAL SMART SPRINGFIELD SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS ORGANIZES APPROXIMATELY 1,000 VOLUNTEERS TO PROVIDE ACADEMIC TUTORING TO STUDENTS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE TWELVE IN 45 PUBLIC, CHARTER AND ALTERNATIVE SCHOOLS IN SPRINGFIELD.
SCHOOL BASED MENTORING SPRINGFIELD SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS RECRUITS, SCREENS, TRAINS, MATCHES, AND PROVIDES SUPPORT TO APPROXIMATELY 200 CARING ADULT VOLUNTEERS WHO SERVE AS ONE-TO-ONE MENTORS TO STUDENTS IN THE SPRINGFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
READ ALOUD IS A SPECIAL PROGRAM RAN FROM OCT TO DEC IN EACH YEAR. MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITIES LOCAL COLLEGES, BUSINESS AND OTHERS READ ALOUD TO STUDENTS IN GRADES PRE-K THROUGH FIVE ONCE PER MONTH ONE DAY PER MONTH. BOOKS ARE DONATED TO HELP BUILD CLASSROOM LIBRARIES.
