SUPPORT SOCIAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR MEMBERS. THE ENJOYMENT, CARE, AND USE, BY MEMBERS AND GUESTS, OF PROPERTY KNOWN AS BARN HOUSE, ON SOUTH ROAD, IN CHILMARK, MA. A COMMUNAL RESIDENCE PROVIDING A PLACE FOR MEETINGS, DISCUSSIONS, AND OCCASIONAL THEATRICS. THE PROPERTY IS LISTED AND DESIGNATED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES IN RECOGNITION OF THE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURES.BARN HOUSE IS AN ONGOING INSTITUTION, THOUGH ALTERED OVER TIME, RETAINS SUFFICIENT INTEGRITY TO SUPPORT ITS ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE AS A RARE SURVIVOR OF THE TYPE OF HOUSE ERECTED DURING CHILMARK'S EARLIEST YEARS OF ENGLISH SETTLEMENT.
