STONE SOUP PRODUCTIONS (SSP), HEADQUARTERED IN WASHINGTON, D.C., IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION WITH A DUAL MISSION. ROOTED IN HUMANITIES STORYTELLING, WE CREATE AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARIES, DIGITAL PROJECTS, APPS, AND EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH INITIATIVES. LED BY ACCLAIMED PRODUCER ANDREA KALIN, SSP PRODUCES AND SUPPORTS CREATIVE, ENLIGHTENED PROGRAMMING THROUGH FISCAL SPONSORSHIPS, BLENDING EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES WITH TRADITIONAL MEDIA. OUR TEAM COMBINES CREATIVITY WITH UNWAVERING INTEGRITY, INTELLECTUAL RIGOR WITH STORYTELLING, AND VISIONARY THINKING WITH ACTIONABLE INITIATIVES. THE OFFICIAL MISSION STATEMENT IS TO GENERATE CONSCIOUSNESS AND ENCOURAGE STEWARDSHIP OF NATURAL ECOSYSTEMS, AND TO CARRY ON OTHER CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ASSOCATED WITH THIS PURPOSE AS ALLOWED BY LAW.

THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED AT THE END OF 1995 BY A GROUP OF INDEPENDENT FILMMAKERS FOR THE EXPRESSED PURPOSE OF PRODUCING CREATIVE EDUCATIONAL MEDIA INCLUDING FILMS, VIDEOS AND CD ROMS, AND RELATED MATERIALS. A SECONDARY PURPOSE IS TO PRODUCE WRITTEN MATERIALS SUCH AS STUDY GUIDES THAT COULD ENHANCE AND ACCOMPANY THE MEDIA. FINALLY, WE WILL SOMETIMES DISTRIBUTE THESE MATERIALS TO BE SURE THAT THEY REACH THE LARGEST POSSIBLE EDUCATIONAL AUDIENCES AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE AND TO SUPPORT FUTURE PROJECTS. THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVED ITS TAX DEDUCTIBLE STATUS IN MID-1996 AND FUNCTIONS BOTH AS A PRODUCTION ENTITY AND A FISCAL AGENT.

OUR GOAL IS TO REACH OUT, EXCITE AND BRING TOGETHER OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH THE POWER OF FILMS THAT SHOWCASE JEWISH SPIRIT, CULTURE, TRADITIONS AND HUMOR.

TO PROMOTE SHORT FILM PRODUCTIONS IN THE LOCAL AREA BY HAVING AN ANNUAL CONTEST. THE CONTEST INVITES ALL INDIVIDUALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO SHOOT A SHORT FILM CENTERED IN THE SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY AREA WITH WINNERS RECEIVING GRANTS AND PRIZES. ALSO, THE FILM PRIZE FOUNDATION, INC. SUPPORTS OTHER LOCAL ACTIVITIES BY HAVING ADDITIONAL CONTESTS/FESTIVALS: LOUISIANA STARTUP PRIZE, LOUISIANA MUSIC PRIZE AND THE LOUISIANA FOOD PRIZE.
