AONE HAWAII HOSTS QUARTERLY MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS WHICH FEATURE GUEST SPEAKERS WHO ADDRESS VARIOUS TOPICS THAT IMPACT NURSES IN THE STATE OF HAWAII AND ACROSS THE NATION (I.E. BEST PRACTICES, HEALTHCARE REFORM ACT, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS, LICENSING ISSUES). THESE MEETINGS ARE A GREAT FORUM FOR MEMBERS TO NETWORK WITH OTHERS IN THE PROFESSION AS WELL AS SHARE AND LEARN FROM EACH OTHER IN AN INFORMAL SETTING. EACH OF THESE QUARTERLY MEETINGS DRAWS APPROXIMATELY 20 MEMBERS. IN ADDITION TO QUARTERLY MEETINGS, AONE HAWAII ALSO DISTRIBUTES A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER TO ALL MEMBERS (APPROXIMATELY 100) WHICH HELPS TO REACH OUT TO THOSE THAT ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND THE MEETINGS ON A REGULAR BASIS. AONE HAWAII ALSO HOSTS A CONFERENCE EACH YEAR WHICH ATTRACTS ABOUT 125 ATTENDEES AND OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS TO EARN CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS. IN ADDITION, AONE HAWAII AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS EACH YEAR TO DESERVING STUDENTS THAT ARE ENROLLED IN NURSING PROGRAMS AT VARIOUS LEVELS (BACHELOR, MASTERS AND PH.D.) AND ARE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS.
