THE YEAR 2022 FOCUSED ON MONITORING HEALTH EFFECTS INFORMATION AND SUPPORTING A NEW EDUCATIONAL GRANT. THE FOUNDATION ALSO MAINTAINS A WEBSITE AT WWW.HAWAIIHEPTACHLOR.WORDPRESS.COM. THE WEBSITE WAS UPDATED DURING 2022 INCLUDING THE DIGITIZING AND UPLOADING OF THE EDUCATIONAL VIDEO. THE CONTRACTED ADMINISTRATOR DOES THIS WORK.
THE FOUNDATION BOARD MADE NO MAJOR RESEARCH GRANTS DURING 2022. THE BOARD CONTINUES TO DISCUSS WHAT FOLLOWUP STUDIES MIGHT BE SUPPORTED. THE BOARD CONDUCTED ZOOM MEETINGS WITH MEMBERS OF THE SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COUNCIL, HEADED BY DR. DONALD MATTISON. THE BOARD AND SAC MEMBERS ARE REVIEWING THE AVAILABLE HEALTH STATISTICS AND ARE IN TOUCH WITH SOME HEPTACHLOR RESEARCHERS. THE ADMINISTRATOR MONITORS ANY RELATED RESEARCH ON HEPTACHLOR CONTAMINATION AND POSSIBLE HEALTH EFFECTS. ONE EXAMPLE IS IF THERE IS A POSSIBLE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEPTACHLOR EXPOSURE AND PARKINSON'S DISEASE.
