THE OBJECTIVE OF THE HAWAII AREA COMMITTEE IS TO CARRY THE MESSAGE OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE TO REACH ALL THOSE WHO HAVE A DESIRE TO STOP DRINKING. THE HAWAII AREA DELEGATE BRINGS THE EXPERIENCE AND VIEWPOINTS OF HAWAII AREA A.A. MEMBERS AND GROUPS TO THE ANNUAL GENERAL SERVICE CONFERENCE OF ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, WHERE THE DELEGATE VOTES IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF A. A. AS A WHOLE. THE DELEGATE ALSO REPORTS BACK TO THE A.A. GROUPS AND DISTRICTS IN THE HAWAII AREA. AREA ASSEMBLIES AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS ARE HELD EACH YEAR TO CONNECT THE DISTRICTS AND A.A. GROUPS TO A. A. WORLDWIDE. THERE WERE FOUR AREA ASSEMBLIES AND THREE COMMITTEE MEETINGS IN 2021, ALL HELD VIRTUALLY DUE TO COVID, TO CONDUCT BUSINESS AND TRANSFER INFORMATION ABOUT A.A. IN THE DISTRICTS AND AREA. THE STANDING SERVICE COMMITTEES WORK TO INFORM MEMBERS OF A.A. AND MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC HOW TO HELP THOSE WHO HAVE A DESIRE TO STOP DRINKING. STANDING COMMITTEES INCLUDE THE ARCHIVES, CONVENTION STEERING, COOPERATION WITH THE ELDER COMMUNITY, COOPERATION WITH THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY, CORRECTIONS, FINANCE, GRAPEVINE, MYNAH BIRD, PUBLIC INFORMATION, TREATMENT, AND WEBSITE COMMITTEES.
