BUENAVENTURA ART ASSOCIATION ENRICHES AND PROMOTES VENTURA COUNTY'S CULTURAL IDENTITY BY SUPPORTING, DEVELOPING AND EXHIBITING A DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED LOCAL ARTISTS.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
THE BAA OFFERS AT LEAST 12 MEMBER EXHIBITIONS AND 12-18 SOLO EXHIBITIONS EACH YEAR. BAA HAS JOINED FORCES WITH COMMUNITY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO BRING ART TO THE PUBLIC WITH ROTATING EXHIBITS IN THE BOTTOM FLOOR OF THE HOSPITAL. THE EXHIBITS ARE OPEN TO ALL ARTIST, NOT JUST ASSOCIATION MEMBERS.
ARTWALK IS A COMMUNITY, ARTIST-RUN, ALL-DAY EVENT IN WHICH ARTIST DISPLAYS ARE SET UP IN DOZENS OF PARTICIPATING LOCATIONS. PATRONS WALK OR RIDE A SHUTTLE TO REACH THE VARIOUS LOCATIONS OFFERING FREE MUSIC AND VISUAL ART EXHIBITS ALONG THE SELF-GUIDED ROUTE. THE DAY ENDS WITH A FREE MUSIC CONCERT.
ART WORKSHOPS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND ARE AVAILABLE TO THE COMMUNITY, WORKSHOPS OFFERED INCLUDE: UPCYCLING THE DISCARDED, MIXED MEDIA, HOW TO SELL YOUR ART, PAINTING WITH PASTELS, AND WATERCOLOR AND INK AMOUNG OTHERS.
