THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SANTA BARBARA (JLSB), CONTINUED VOLUNTEER, MATERIAL, AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR IT'S SIGNATURE PROJECT S.A.F.E. HOUSE SANTA BARBARA (SAVING AT-RISK YOUTH FROM EXPLOITATION) THROUGH A CONTINUED STRATEGIC NON-PROFIT PARTNERSHIP WITH 4 KIDS 2 KIDS, INC (4K2K). THE SHELTER, A SIX-BED SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM (STRTP), IS DESIGNED TO MEET THE VERY SPECIFIC NEEDS OF MINOR FEMALES WHO HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY EXPLOITED.IN ADDITION, JLSB ANNOUNCED A SECOND SIGNATURE PROJECT WITH 4K2K: LIVING ARROWS, A THERAPEUTIC, REHABILITATIVE, AND RESIDENTIAL HOME FOR TRANSITION AGE YOUTH THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR FEMALE SURVIVORS OF SEXUAL EXPLOITATION, AGED 18-21. LIVING ARROWS WAS DESIGNED TO BE THE NEXT STEP A UPON GRADUATION FROM A MORE RIGOROUS STRTP PROGRAM LIKE S.A.F.E. HOUSE SANTA BARBARA. THE JLSB PROVIDED A GRANT AND MATERIAL SUPPORT TO LIVING ARROWS DURING IT'S STARTUP PHASE.
THE JLSB HAS BEEN PROVIDING GRANTS TO COMMUNITY NON-PROFITS THAT ALIGN WITH THE JLSB MISSION THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE FUNDS (CAF) SINCE OUR 1988-1989 FISCAL YEAR. THIS PROGRAM NOT ONLY PROVIDES FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO LOCAL NON-PROFITS, BUT ALSO SERVES TO TRAIN JLSB MEMBERS IN HOW TO VET AND INDEPENDENTLY AWARD GRANT APPLICATIONS. IN THE 2022-2023 FISCAL YEAR A TOTAL OF $10,000 IN GRANTS WERE GIVEN TO SEVEN NON-PROFIT AWARDEES.
