LAUNCHING ECHO ENROLLED 162 HIGH SCHOOL TEENS FROM 61 DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOLS AND 285 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM 15 DIFFERENT MIDDLE SCHOOLS, ALL OF WHOM PARTICIPATED IN A CLASSROOM BASED INTRODUCTION TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND CULMINATED IN VIBRANT AND VIRTUAL CAPSTONE EVENTS. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DEVELOPED WRITTEN BUSINESS PLANS AND PITCH DECKS IN PREPARATION FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE HIGH SCHOOL ENTREPRENEURS BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION. MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS DEVELOPED PRESENTATION DECKS AND PRESENTED THEIR PITCH VIRTUALLY TO PANELS OF JUDGES. WINNING TEAMS WERE AWARDED MEDAL LANYARDS. (600 VOLUNTEER/MENTOR HOURS). LAUNCHING ECHO GENERALLY CHARGES PUBLIC SCHOOLS 50% OF THE ACTUAL COST TO PARTICIPATE AND ECHO RAISES THE DIFFERENCE TO ALLOW SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE. STUDENTS ARE NOT CHARGED.
TEEN INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUMMER (TIES) ENROLLED MORE THAN 220 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM 13 DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOLS. TEENS PARTICIPATED IN A VIRTUAL SUMMER PROGRAM THAT TAUGHT STUDENTS HOW TO IDEATE AND CREATE A BUSINESS AND CULMINATED IN A VIRTUAL SHOWCASE EVENT WHERE TEENS PRESENTED THEIR PITCH DECKS. (120 VOLUNTEER/MENTORHOURS). TIES IS GENERALLY A CONTRACTED PROGRAM AND CLIENTS ARE CHARGED FULL PRICE FOR THE PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES LICENSING FEES, TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AND ON-GOING MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT. IT INCLUDES LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, ALONG WITH OTHER CONTRACTED ORGANIZATIONS. IN SOME CASES, PROJECT ECHO PROVIDES TEACHERS TO LEAD CLASSROOM BASED INSTRUCTION, AND WE INCUR EXPENSES, INCLUDING CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT.
