INTRODUCTION:THIS YEAR THE FOUNDER, JERRY SLOCUM, STEPPED DOWN AS PRESIDENT OF THE SPF. JERRY IS SUPERSEDED BY HIS SON, ALSO AN AVID COLLECTOR, ALLAN SLOCUM. IN HIS NEW ROLE, ALLAN REACHED OUT TO THE MAIN PUZZLE VENDORS AND LEADING INVENTORS. HE ALSO REACHED OUT TO THE FOUNDATION ACCOUNTANT, LARRY CLUMECK, AND IS RETAINING THE FIRM FOR THE FUTURE.COLLECTION PUZZLES DONATED:THE FOUNDATION DONATED 274 MECHANICAL PUZZLES, 90 VOLUMES OF PRINTED MATERIALS, AND 14 BOXES OF MANUSCRIPTS. ADDITIONALLY THE FOUNDATION DONATED THE COLLECTION OF ROMANO- CELTIC MASK PUZZLE PADLOCKS. THIS COLLECTION OF ANCIENT PUZZLE CLOCKS IS THE LARGEST COLLECTION IN THE WORLD, WHICH IS NOW OWNED BY THE LILLY.
PURCHASED PUZZLES:THE SLOCUM PUZZLE FOUNDATION DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH OF NEWLY DEVELOPED PUZZLES AND PURCHASED $3,272.51 OF PUZZLES. THESE WERE DELIVERED TO THE LILLY.CONCLUSION:THE PUZZLE CURATOR AT THE LILLY LIBRARY SAID IN HIS ANNUAL REPORT, THAT ALMOST 6,000 VISITORS TO THE SLOCUM PUZZLE ROOM AT THE LILLY LIBRARY THIS YEAR SHOW THE INTEREST IN THE CONTINUALLY EXPANDING COLLECTION, MUCH OF WHICH WAS DONATED BY THIS SLOCUM PUZZLE FOUNDATION. THE DONATION OF 11 NEW PUZZLES AND THE 274 PUZZLES FROM JERRYS COLLECTION WILL KEEP THE COLLECTION AT THE LILLY UP TO DATE. WHILE NOT AS COLORFULL, THE MANUSCRIPTS ARE VERY HELPFUL TO RESEARCHERS. THE DONATION OF THE ROMANO-CELTIC MASK PUZZLE PADLOCKS IS A HUGE ADDITION TO THE LILLY COLLECTION. THE MAIN PUZZLE EVENT, THE INTERNATIONAL PUZZLE PARTY (IPP) WAS POSTPONED AGAIN IN 2021. AT THIS EVENT MANY NEW PUZZLES ARE USUALLY PURCHASED FOR THE LILLY. THE INVENTORS ARE BUSY WORKING AND AT THE NEXT FEW IPPS PUZZLES INVENTED IN 2021 WILL BE AVAILABLE.
