LEGAL IMMIGRATION SERVICES: U.S. NATURALIZATION APPLICATIONS; DEFERRED ACTION FOR CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS (DACA) RENEWALS; U-VISAS; VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT (VAWA); FAMILY PETITIONS; AND DEPORTATION DEFENSE. STAFF PROVIDES SCREENING, APPLICATION ASSISTANCE, CASE REVIEW, CONSULTATIONS, & REFERRALS.


ORGANIZING: CHIRLA ENGAGES LOW-INCOME WORKERS, PARENTS AND YOUTH IN LEADERSHIP AND ADVOCACY COMMITTEES: DOMESTIC WORKERS, STREET VENDORS, THE WISE UP! PROGRAM AT 16 LOS ANGELES HIGH SCHOOLS, AND THE CALIFORNIA DREAM NETWORK AT 36 CALIFORNIA COLLEGES.


COMMUNITY EDUCATION & OUTREACH: CHIRLA'S WORKSHOPS PROVIDE ACCURATE, UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ABOUT RIGHTS OF IMMIGRANTS, ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES AND HEALTHCARE, FINANCIAL LITERACY, WAGE THEFT, OTHER CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS, AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO PROTECT AGAINST DEPORTATION AND FAMILY SEPARATION. THE FREE SPANISH/ENGLISH IMMIGRANT ACCESS HOTLINE (1-888-6CHIRLA) RECEIVES NEARLY 5,000 CALLS/YEAR FOR REFERRALS/INFORMATION ON IMMIGRATION, WORKERS' RIGHTS, WAGE THEFT, CITIZENSHIP, HEALTHCARE, PRO-BONO LEGAL SUPPORT, ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION, AND OTHER INFORMATION.
