THE BUREAU OF JEWISH EDUCATION OF GREATER LOS ANGELES (DBA BUILDERS OF JEWISH EDUCATION) PROVIDES MEANINGFUL JEWISH EXPERIENCES FOR CHILDREN, FAMILIES & EDUCATORS, AND SUPPORTS HIGH QUALITY JEWISH EDUCATION THROUGHOUT GREATER LOS ANGELES.

A. EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERVICES FOR EDUCATORS RELATED TO STUDENTS FROM EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH HIGH SCHOOLB. PROVIDE AND FACILITATE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS FOR 1832 TOTAL EDUCATOR ENROLLMENTC. ADMINISTRATION OF VARIOUS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS BENEFITING 262 STUDENTSD. CONSULTATION TO PARENTS ABOUT JEWISH EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIESE. FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR, TEENS ENGAGED VIRTUALLY WITH RESIDENTS OF THE LOS ANGELES JEWISH HOME FOR THE AGING WHO WERE UNABLE TO HAVE VISITORS DUE TO THE COVID-19 STAY AT HOME ORDER. THE OPPORTUNITY ENRICHED AND DEEPENED THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE OF THE STUDENTS, THE LIVES OF THE SENIORS IN THE COMMUNITY, AND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE GENERATIONS.F. FACILITATE ACCESS TO TITLE SERVICES FOR STUDENTS K-12WITH THE START OF THE PANDEMIC (MARCH 2020), SERVICES TO SUPPORTSCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AND EDUCATORS IN THE SUDDEN SHIFT TO REMOTE LEARNING WERE PROVIDED TO ALL SECTORS: EARLY EDUCATION THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL; FULL TIME PROGRAMS AND PART-TIME PROGRAMS.


PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SCHOOLS FOR JEWISH EDUCATION, BENEFITING 37 SCHOOLS WITH 9594 STUDENTS. 262 STUDENTS BENEFITED DIRECTLY FROM FINANCIAL AID.


INTERNATIONAL MARCH OF THE LIVING PROGRAM - AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM THAT BRINGS JEWISH TEENS AND ADULTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD TO POLAND ON YOM HASHOAH (HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY) TO MARCH FROM AUSCHWITZ TO BIRKENAU, THE LARGEST CONCENTRATION CAMP COMPLEX BUILT DURING WORLD WAR II, AND THEN TO ISRAEL TO OBSERVE YOM HAZIKARON, (ISRAEL MEMORIAL DAY), AND YOM HA'ATZMAUT, (ISRAEL INDEPENDENCE DAY). THE MARCH OF THE LIVING PROGRAM TO POLAND AND ISRAEL WAS UNABLE TO RUN FOR A SECOND YEAR OWING TO THE PANDEMIC. IN 2020-2021, IN ITS PLACE, BJE CONDUCTED AN EVENING YOM HASHOAH PROGRAM AND PARTNERED WITH INTERNATIONAL MARCH OF THE LIVING AND MILKEN HIGH SCHOOL TO CONDUCT A VIRTUAL 2-DAY CONFERENCE FOR HUNDREDS OF HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS, LOCALLY AND AROUND THE WORLD. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO LINKED DOZENS OF TEENS WITH HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS, PROVIDING ISOLATED SENIORS (OWING TO COVID-19) WITH WEEKLY CONTACT WITH TEENS AND ENABLING TEENS TO LEARN ABOUT THE LIFE EXPERIENCES OF HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS WHO REBUILT THEIR LIVES IN LOS ANGELES, POST-WWII.
