THE COVID SURGE CURTAILED 2021 SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES. EDUCATED 6,402 STUDENTS (OVER 348,559 SINCE 1990) GRADES K-COLLEGE (IN ENGLISH & SPANISH) VIA ZOOM. OR WITH HANDS-ON, SCIENCE BASED MARINE MAMMAL PROGRAMS WITH ARTIFACTS & ACTIVITIES. DEVELOPED ADDITIONAL DISTANCE-LEARNING PROGRAMS. YEAR LONG ACTIVITIES PROVIDED FOR 78 UNDERSERVED STUDENTS WITH OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES. WATER MONITORING AND ART PROJECT TO PROTECT WATERWAYS. PROVIDED SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR 21 COLLEGE STUDENTS. ENGAGED 901 PEOPLE THROUGH PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION EVENTS INCLUDING: STORM DRAIN MARKING ACTIVITIES, WATERWAY LITTER CLEANUPS (OVER 1,531 POUNDS TRASH COLLECTED), AND OUTREACH TO GARDEN STORES REGARDING PESTICIDE ALTERNATIVES.
