IN THE YEAR 19/20, THE INVERNESS FOUNDATION ACCOMPLISHED MORE REMEDIAL WORK ON ITS ICONIC AND HISTORIC BUILDING, THE GABLES, WHICH HOUSES THE MARIN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND THE JACK MASON MUSEUM OF WEST MARIN HISTORY.THIS WORK TOOK CARE OF TERMITE AND OTHER WOOD-BORING INSECT DAMAGE THAT HAD BEEN TREATED THE YEAR BEFORE. THIS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF SIDING, REPAINTING AND SEALING ALL SURFACES ON THE REAR OF THE ANNEX, THE JACK MASON MUSEUM ARCHIVES BUILDING, THE OLDEST BUILDING IN INVERNESS. FOLLOWING UP ON EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE (TREATED) IN THE GABLES, REAR SIDING WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED, AND A ROTTING WINDOW WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW SECURE DOOR FOR ACCESS TO THE ATTIC STORAGE AND A RAMP TO ACCESS THE DOOR. THIS WILL FACILITATE ACCESS FOR OUTDOOR EVENTS WHICH STORE THEIR SUPPLIES IN THE ATTIC.IN ADDITION, MORE WORK TOOK PLACE REPLACING BITS AND PIECES OF BRIDGES AROUND THE COMMUNITY.THE ADA DOOR WAS REPAIRED AND LIBRARY STAFF AND THE BOARD LEARNED HOW TO MAKE THE JOB EASIER IN THE FUTURE.THE FOUNDATION CONTINUED TO SUPPORT, THROUGH FISCAL SPONSORSHIP, THE YOUTH TENNIS PROGRAM AS WELL AS SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YOUTH SAILING WITH THE INVERNESS YACHT CLUB.HOURS OF PREPARATION WENT INTO ORGANIZING ANOTHER PROGRAM ON FIRE SAFETY FOR THE COMMUNITY, AND AT THE LAST MINUTE, IT HAD TO BE CANCELLED, DUE TO THE SHELTER IN PLACE/PANDEMIC REGULATIONS.THE JACK MASON MUSEUM OF WEST MARIN HISTORY (A COMMITTEE OF THE IF) MOUNTED FOUR EXHIBITS IN THE 19/20 YEAR, IN THE MUSEUM SPACE OF THE GABLES. THEY INCLUDED THE LATINO PHOTO PROJECT, HISTORIC PHOTOS WITH CONTEMPORARY REENACTMENTS OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS BY MEMBERS OF THE LATINO PHOTO PROJECT. THE NEXT EXHIBITION WAS THE HISTORY OF THE ICONIC INVERNESS FAIR PUT ON ANNUALLY IN RECENT YEARS BY THE INVERNESS ASSOCIATION. THE EXHIBIT COINCIDED WITH THE 2019 FAIR.A PARTICULARLY WELL-ATTENDED EXHIBIT INCLUDED THE HISTORY OF LOCAL NEWSPAPERS AND PUBLICATIONS. THERE WAS AN OPEN HOUSE AND SEMINAR WITH SOME OF THE PAST EDITORS OF THE PUBLICATIONS.THE LAST SHOW WAS OPENED JUST AS SHELTER IN PLACE WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN, SO ITS NOT BEEN WIDELY VIEWED. IT INCLUDES THE HISTORY OF THE BEAR VALLEY RANCH, WHICH IS THE HQ OF THE PT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE.WHEN THE MARIN COUNTY LIBRARY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE PATRONS BROWSE THE LIBRARY PREMISES, THEY HAVE FULL ACCESS TO THE MUSEUM EXHIBITS.
