DURING FY2023/24, MORE THAN 63 ACTIVE AND ALUMNAE MEMBERS DEDICATED THEMSELVES TO PROVIDING TRANSFORMATIONAL PROGRAMS TO THE SACRAMENTO REGION. OUR MEMBERS CONTRIBUTE MORE THAN 4,000 DOCUMENTED HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNUALLY. OUR MOST RECENT AND ON-GOING EVENTS INCLUDE: SIGNATURE PROGRAM - IN 2020, THE SACRAMENTO (CA) CHAPTER OF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED MODIFIED AND CREATED A NEW ROBUST AND RELEVANT ACHIEVERS PROGRAM TO 'BLACK ACHIEVERS CREATING CHANGE' BACC TO A FREE TWO-YEAR PROGRAM FOCUSED ON CONNECTING, SUPPORTING, AND CELEBRATING HIGH ACHIEVING AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDENTS IN THE SACRAMENTO REGION. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES BOTH YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN THEIR JUNIOR AND SENIOR YEARS OF HIGH SCHOOL WHO EXEMPLIFY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL, AND A WILLINGNESS TO EMPOWER OTHERS THROUGH VOLUNTEER SERVICE. THE TWO-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE WORKSHOP SERIES INCLUDES COLLEGE PREPARATION WORKSHOPS, MENTORING ACTIVITIES, CIVIC AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT AND VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES. IN 2024, WE HAD OVER 24 PARTICIPANTS WHO ENGAGED IN A HOST OF ACTIVITIES AND WORKSHOPS AND COMPLETED A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FOCUSED ON VOTER EDUCATION AND REGISTRATION. THE SACRAMENTO CHAPTER OF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED HOLDS A BACC CELEBRATION HONORING OUR GRADUATING SENIORS. UTILIZING THE UMBRELLA APPROACH TO IMPLEMENT ACTIVITIES SUCH PROBLEMS, BASED ON OUR RESEARCH ON LOW GRADUATION AND COLLEGE ATTENDANCE RATES, INCREASED MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS OF BLACK YOUTH, AND DISENGAGEMENT OF YOUTH FROM COMMUNITY SERVICE, EACH PROGRAM FACET DESIGNED AND EXECUTED MONTHLY WORKSHOPS BASED ON THE BACC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. THE WORKSHOP STRUCTURE INCLUDED AN INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE WITH PRE AND POST POLLING QUESTIONS FACILITATED BY CHAPTER MEMBERS ON SPECIFIC TOPICS OF ENGAGEMENT: THE CULMINATING PROJECT WAS LED BY OUR NATIONAL TRENDS PROGRAM AND INCLUDED A COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FOCUSED ON EDUCATIONAL EQUITY THE ARTS PROGRAM PROVIDED COLORFUL AND FUN WAYS TO CREATE LIFE PLANNING THROUGH MIND MAPS AND TAUGHT OUR YOUTH HOW TO CREATE THEIR OWN PERSONAL BRANDING. SERVICES TO YOUTH PROGRAM INVITED RESTORATIVE JUSTICE SCHOLARS TO DEMONSTRATE AND FACILITATE A RESTORATIVE JUSTICE CIRCLE PROCESS FOR THE SCHOLARS INTERNATIONAL TRENDS BROUGHT GLOBAL AWARENESS OF THE STUDY ABROAD OPPORTUNITIES WHILE IN COLLEGE AND HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES FOCUSED ON ISOLATION, ANXIETY, AND DEPRESSION DURING COVID-19 AND LEARNING THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTING SUICIDE IN BLACK YOUTH.
