THE MARIN AUDUBON SOCIETY IS DEDICATED TO ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN CONSERVATION, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, AND ENJOYMENT OF OUR NATURAL HERITAGE. WE ADVOCATE SOUND LAND AND WATER RESOURCE PLANNING, AND ACT TO RESTORE, ENHANCE, AND SAFEGUARD OUR WETLANDS AND OTHER NATURAL HABITATS. BIRDS AND OTHER WILDLIFE ARE THE INDICATORS OF THE HEALTH OR OUR ENVIRONMENT, AND WE REMAIN COMMITTED TO THEIR PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION.

CONSERVATION: CONSERVATION. CONTINUED WORK ON GRANTS FOR SEA LEVEL RISE ADAPTATION PROJECT TO EXPAND MARSH HABITAT AND INCREASE FLOOD PROTECTIONS AND PROVIDE PUBLIC ACCESS FOR NEARBY UNDERSERVED COMMUNITY. THE PROJECT, TO BE COMPLETED ON OUR 20-ACRE PROPERTY IN SAN RAFAEL, INCLUDES PREPARING TECHNICAL STUDIES, REFINING DESIGN, AND CONDUCTING CEQA REVIEW AND PUBLIC OUTREACH. TWO LARGE GRANTS WERE AWARDED TO SUPPORT THE PROJECT. ADVOCATED FOR THE PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE AND HABITATS ON PROPOSED PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES HAVING POTENTIAL IMPACT ON NATURAL RESOURCES. ADVOCATED FOR THE PROTECTION OF THREATENED SPECIES, NORTHERN SPOTTED OWL, THE FARALLON ISLANDS ECOSYSTEM, PT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE, AND RICHARDSONS BAY. SPONSORED A DOCENT PROGRAM TO PROTECT BABY NORTHERN SPOTTED OWLS. SERVES AS FISCAL SPONSOR FOR A MULTI-YEAR PROJECT TO UPDATE THE MARIN COUNTY BREEDING BIRD ATLAS


EDUCATION: PRESENTED 10 SPEAKER PROGRAM WEBINARS AND 28 FIELD TRIPS ON BIRDS, BIRDING BEHAVIOR, AND OTHER NATURAL HISTORY TOPICS. HELD MORE THAN 30 RESTORATION WORKDAYS TO RESTORE HABITATS ON OUR PROPERTIES, INCLUDING FOR ADULTS AND STUDENTS. PUBLISHED 10 NEWSLETTERS, DISTRIBUTED ELECTRONICALLY OR BY USPS MAIL TO MEMBERS. NEWSLETTERS INCLUDED PROGRAM REPORTS, BIRDING OBSERVATIONS, AND ARTICLES REGARDING MARIN AUDUBONS ONGOING EFFORTS TO PROTECT NATIVE SPECIES AND NATURAL HABITAT. REINITIATED JUNIOR BIRDWATCHERS, AN ON-LINE PROGRAM FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN TO LEARN ABOUT BIRDS.
