THE PURPOSE OF THE MVTF IS TO COLLECT, PRESERVE, RESTORE, DOCUMENT AND DISPLAY ARMORED FIGHTING VEHICLES AND THEIR ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT, SUCH AS ENGINES, TRANSMISSIONS, SUSPENSIONS, WEAPONS, OPTICS, RADIOS AND LITERATURE, TO PROVIDE AN EDUCATIONAL AND HISTORICAL RESOURCE. IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLES AND THEIR COMPONENTS, AN EXTENSIVE LIBRARY OF TECHNICAL MANUALS, BOOKS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND BLUEPRINTS IS BEING COLLECTED.ADDITIONALLY, THE MVTF PROVIDED TOURS TO SELECT GROUPS BY APPOINTMENT DURING 2018. THESE TOURS EDUCATED THE GROUPS ON THE HISTORY AND OPERATION OF THE TANKS. MVTF CONTINUED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC ACCESS WHILE TRANSITIONING TO A NEW MUSEUM AT THE COLLINGS FOUNDATION IN STOW, MASSACHUSETTS. FOR LOGISTICAL, SAFETY AND SECURITY REASONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOVE, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT COULD BE HOSTED IN PORTOLA VALLEY, AND THE FREQUENCY OF VISITS WAS REDUCED. IN 2018, 238 INDIVIDUALS TOURED THE FACILITY. THE NEW MUSEUM IN STOW, MA OPENED IN THE FALL OF 2018.
