LITTLE BROTHERS FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY (LBFE) IS A NON-PROFIT COMMITTED TO RELIEVING ISOLATION AND LONLINESS AMONG OLDER ADULTS IN THE SAN FRANSICO BAY AREA. WE OFFER THE PEOPLE OF GOODWILL THE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN THE OLDER ADULTS IN THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE.

LBFE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS ENDEAVOR TO ALLEVIATE THE FEELINGS OF EXCLUSION BY CREATING AND SUSTAINING BONDS OF COMPANIONSHIP THAT PROVIDE LIFE-ENRICHING EXPERIENCES TO OLDER ADULTS WHO OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE FEW, IF ANY, PERSONAL AND MEANINGFUL SOCIAL INTERACTIONS. PROGRAMS ARE PRESENTED YEAR-ROUND AND AT NO COST, AND COMPRISE HOME VISITS ON HOLIDAYS (INCLUDING THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS DAYS), SOCIAL GATHERINGS, BIRTHDAY VISITS, EXCURSIONS, MULTI-MODAL INTERGENERATIONAL SOCIAL CONTACT INITIATIVE (MISCI), PHONE CALLS, MEDICAL ESCORT, AND RIDE PROVIDING FREE RIDES TO THE OLDER ADULTS IN OUR PROGRAM. MOST IMPORTANTLY THE CULTIVATION OF LASTING FRIENDSHIPS IN OUR VISING VOLUNTEER MATCHED PROGRAM. THIS CORE PROGRAM OFFERS LONELY AND ISOLATED OLDER ADULTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMPANIONSHIP AND INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEER WHO VISIT THEM REGULARLY. THE COMMITMENT IS TWO VISITS PER MONTH FOR SIX MONTHS.


TECH ALLIES IS A COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP AMONG THREE ORGANIZATIONS: LITTLE BROTHERS-FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY (LBFE), COMMUNITY TECH NETWORK (CTN) A DIGITAL LITERACY TRAINING ORGANIZATION, AND THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO (UCSF). LBFE INCORPORATED DIGITAL TRAINING INTO LBFE'S ONGOING PROGRAM AND RECRUITED PARTICIPANTS FROM ITS GROWING NETWORK OF ISOLATED OLDER ADULTS IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA. THE TECH ALLIES 2.0 PROGRAM USES THE SAME INFRASTRUCTURE AS THE EXISTING TECH ALLIES 1.0 AND ADDED KEY HEALTH AND HEALTHCARE-RELATED OUTCOMES AND ON-LINE SAFETY SCAMS
