TO BRING TOGETHER CHILDREN FROM DIFFERENT SOCIOECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS TO GROW AND WORK IN HARMONY AND COOPERATION AND TO WORK TOWARD ALL OF DR. MARIA MONTESSORI'S CONCEPTS, ESPECIALLY THAT OF PEACE THROUGH EDUCATION.

NIA HOUSE MET ITS MISSION OF SERVING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DURING THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR. THE SCHOOL STAYED ABREAST OF ALL COVID-RELATED POLICIES AND PRACTICES AND KEPT ITS DOORS OPEN TO CHILDREN THROUGHT THE ENTIRE FISCAL YEAR/ SCHOOL YEAR. NIA HOUSE REDUCED CLASS SIZES, SPENT MORE TIME OUTSIDE, CONNECTED WITH PARENTS VIRTUALLY, KEPT TEACHERS EMPLOYED AND WITH HEALTHCARE, AND SUPPORTED ONGOING STAFF DEVELOPMENT FOR ALL. CHILDREN ARRIVED AT STAGGERED DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES AND ALL PARENTS WERE GREETED OUTSIDE. THE SCHOOL SUCCEEDED IN FINDING ALTERNATIVE WAYS OF MEETING FAMILIES NEEDS, PIVOTING POSITIVELY THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC. ALL AVAILABLE FUNDING SOURCES WERE APPROACHED, AND CONTRIBUTED TO IMPROVING THE OUTDOOR SPACES AT SCHOOL THIS YEAR, AS NIA HOUSE AIMS TO SPEND AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF TIME OUTDOORS WITH THE UNVACCINATED POPULATION OF CHILDREN UNDER 5 YEARS OLD.
