Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

THE GFO'S PURPOSE IS TO EDUCATE, TO RECORD, AND TO PRESERVE GENEALOGICAL AND HISTORICAL RECORDS AND INFORMATION.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

GFO MAINTAINS A RESEARCH LIBRARY WITH OVER 55,000 HOLDINGS SERVING THE ENTIRE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. THE LIBRARY IS NORMALLY OPEN TO BOTH GFO MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC. IN MOST YEARS, HUNDREDS OF PATRONS USE THE LIBRARY IN-PERSON, BUT IN 2021-2022 THE PHYSICAL LIBRARY WAS CLOSED OVER 200 DAYS DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WE CONTINUED OUR ONLINE OFFERINGS. IN THIS FISCAL YEAR WE HAD 2800-3500 UNIQUE VISITORS EACH MONTH ON THE WEBSITE. ANOTHER ONGOING INITIATIVE IS DIGITIZING MATERIALS, ESPECIALLY ONE-OF-A-KIND HOLDINGS AND PUBLICATIONS AT RISK OF DETERIORATING; THIS YEAR WE MADE OVER 400,000 ADDITIONAL PAGES OF IMAGES AVAILABLE TO MEMBERS ONLINE.

THE GFO HOLDS NUMEROUS CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS DURING THE YEAR TO TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO TRACE THEIR OWN FAMILY HISTORIES. CONDUCTED A WEEK-LONG CONFERENCE ONLINE WITH OVER 20 EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS. HOSTED OVER 100 SPECIAL-INTEREST GROUP MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. PUBLISHED A QUARTERLY GENEALOGICAL JOURNAL.

CONDUCTED RESEARCH FOR PATRONS. IN 2021-2022 WE COMPLETED 147 RESEARCH REQUESTS, NOT COUNTING UNPAID RESEARCH FOR MEMBERS.
