PASSINART: A THEATRE COMPANY IS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN PRODUCING THEATER COMPANY WHOSE MISSION IS TO ENTERTAIN, EDUCATE AND INSPIRE ARTISTS AND AUDIENCES WHILE ADDRESSING CRITICAL ISSUES FACING OUR COMMUNITY.

PASSINART HAD TWO SUCCESSFUL MAINSTAGE PRODUCTIONS OF BLUES FOR AN ALABAMA SKY BY PEARL CLEAGE AND BLACK NATIVITY BY LANGSTON HUGHES AT THE BRUNISH THEATER. THE COMPANY IS SET TO OPEN YOHEN BY PHILIP GOTANDA THERE IN MARCH 2024. THE PNMC FESTIVAL AIMED TO SUPPORT AND SHOWCASE NEW WORK OF MULTICULTURAL ARTISTS, PROVIDE LEARNING/NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARTISTS/AUDIENCE MEMBERS, AND OFFER A MULTICULTURAL, COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT TO PROMOTE UNDERSTANDING ACROSS CULTURAL DIFFERENCES. TO IMPROVE THE EVENT NEXT YEAR, PASSINART IS STEPPING UP LOCAL MARKETING EFFORTS, INCLUDING OUTREACH TO SCHOOLS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, OTHER THEATERS, AND THE PUBLIC. OUR PASSINART YOUTH THEATER CAMP CONSISTS OF THREE, FIVE-WEEK SESSIONS IN A BRAND-NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW COLUMBIA HOUSING COMPLEX AND HOME FORWARD. THE CAMP HAS CONSISTENTLY SERVED BLACK STUDENTS, AGES 8 TO 11 YEARS OLD, AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS PROMISING PILOT WITH CAREFULLY CONSTRUCTED AND CULTURALLY RELEVANT CURRICULUM, IS SET TO EXPAND CONSIDERABLY IN 2024 TO SERVE MORE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AS WELL AS RESIDENCES OF ADDITIONAL HOME FORWARD HOUSING COMPLEXES.
