THE COUNCIL'S MISSION IS TO INITIATE AND CONTINUE THE CLEAN-UP AND PRESERVATION OF THE WATERSHED FOR THE PROTECTION OF CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES AND FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE TRADITIONAL NATIVE WAY OF LIFE. THE COUNCIL'S SUPPORT IS DERIVED PRIMARILY FROM GOVERNMENTAL GRANTS AND PRIVATE FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTIONS.

OTHER:ADVOCACY - INCLUDES EFFORTS TO CLEAN CONTAMINATED SITES AND PREVENT FUTURE CONTAMINATION OF THE WATERSHED.


EPA:ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - PROVIDES CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM TO YOUTH THROUGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING, AND RAISES COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF THE ISSUES THAT AFFECT THE WATERSHED.


SOLID WASTE:SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE AND SEWAGE - PROVIDES INFORMATION AND KEY SUPPORT TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE WASTEWATER, SEWAGE, SOLID AND HAZARDOUS WASTE SYSTEMS AND PLANS, LEADING TO AFFORDABLE AND APPROPRIATE IMPROVEMENTS.TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE - PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO COMMUNITIES AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLES IN THE YUKON RIVER WATERSHED.
