KKSC IS DEDICATED TO PROMOTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTELLECTUAL AND EMOTIONAL MATURITY, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS AND LIFELONG HABITS OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AMOUNG AREA YOUTH AND ADULTS THROUGH SKI COMPETITION, FAMILY SKIING AND RELATED SNOWSPORT ACTIVITES.WE TRAIN RACER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM MEMBERS (FORMERLY RACE TEAM) TO BECOME JUNIOR COACHES AND EVENTUALLY FULL-TIME COACHES AND INSTRUCTORS

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

THE KOMO KULSHAN SKI CLUB SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM PAID PROGRAM COSTS FOR AREA YOUTH TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THAT FURTHERED THE EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE KOMO KULSHAN SKI CLUB AND WHICH THE PARTICPANTS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD WITHOUT THIS SUPPORT. THE PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THESE YOUTH RECEIVED SUPPORT INCLUDED ADAPTIVE LESSONS, SKI LESSONS, SNOWBOARD LESSONS, RACER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT WHATCOM AND SKAGIT COUNTIES. WE COVERED 32 RECIPENTS THIS PAST SEASON.


THE KKSC WINTER RIDE PROGRAM IS A FOUR WEEK SKI AND SNOWBOARD PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE WINDER RIDE PROGRAM WAS ESTABLISHED OVER 50 YEARS AGO AT MT BAKER SKI AREA. IN AUG 2016, KKSC TOOK OVER MANAGING THE PROGRAM FOR THE BELLINGHAM SCHOOL DISTRICT AND YOUTH LIVING IN BELLINGHAM SCHOOL DISTRICT BY ARRANGING TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE MOUNTAIN FOR 4 WEEKS.


KOMO KULSHAN SKI CLUB WAS ABLE TO HOST ITS ANNUAL SKI RACE, CALLED THE RAVEN'S EDGE DUAL SLALOM, AT THE MT BAKER SKI AREA IN APRIL 2024. THE EVENT PROMOTES THE EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE CLUB BY REQUIRING OF ITS PARTICIPANTS TO USE INTELLECUAL AND EMOTIONAL MATURITY, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL HEALTH. WE WILL HOST THIS EVENT IN 2025.
