THE BRAIN INJURY ALLIANCE OF WASHINGTON IS DETERMINED THAT NO ONE WHO HAS SURVIVED A BRAIN INJURY OR BEEN AFFECTED BY ANOTHER PERSON'S INJURY SHOULD HAVE TO FACE THEIR CONDITION ALONE. OUR VISION IS A WORLD WHERE BRAIN INJURY IS PREVENTED, AND EVERY PERSON ALREADY AFFECTED BY ITS IMPACT BENEFITS FROM RESOURCES THAT MAXIMIZE HIS/HER QUALITY OF LIFE. OUR MISSION IS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS, SUPPORT, AND HOPE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY BRAIN INJURY THROUGH EDUCATION, ASSISTANCE, AND ADVOCACY.

RESOURCE CENTER: THE ORGANIZATION MANAGES A TOLL-FREE RESOURCE LINE, ASSISTING OVER 10,000 CALLS EACH YEAR AND REFERRING THOSE WHO NEED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO IN-PERSON RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. STAFF SUPPORTS CLIENTS IN ACHIEVING CLIENT CENTERED GOALS, WHICH INCLUDE SUPPORT IN NAVIGATING SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICAL SYSTEMS, FAMILY ISSUES, HOUSING, EMPLOYMENT AND ANY OTHER ISSUE RELATED TO THEIR BRAIN INJURY. DURING THE RECENT PANDEMIC, BIAWA HAS SEEN A 17.6% INCREASE IN CALLS TO OUR RESOURCE LINE.
SUPPORT SERVICES: THE ORGANIZATION FACILITATES 5 SUPPORT GROUPS & SUPPORT TO 10 OTHER GROUPS THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF WASHINGTON DESIGNED TO CONNECT SURVIVORS AND CAREGIVERS WITH OTHERS WHO FACE SIMILAR ISSUES. WE PROVIDE SOCIAL OUTINGS, EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS & FREE TRAININGS TO PROVIDERS & PRACTITIONERS.BIAWA PROVIDES NUMEROUS OUTINGS AND EVENTS FOR SURVIVORS & CAREGIVERS THROUGH-OUT THE YEAR AND ACROSS THE STATE. THIS INCLUDES DINNERS, ATHLETIC EVENTS, AN ANNUAL ART SHOW AND ENRICHMENT OUTINGS.
BRAIN HEALTH AND WELLNESS: THE ORGANIZATION'S BRAIN HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM TAILORS HEALTH AND WELLNESS CLASSES SPECIFICALLY FOR INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY BRAIN INJURY AND THEIR LOVED ONES. THE BRAIN HEALTH & WELLNESS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON CLASSES THAT SUPPORT SURVIVOR AND FAMILY MEMBER INTEGRATION. THE PROGRAM OFFERS NONCLINICAL CLASSES SUCH AS SOCIAL SKILLS, ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNICATING DESIGNED TO EMPOWER THE PARTICIPANTS AND GIVE THEM THE TOOLS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.
PACT- POOLED ALLIANCE COMMUNITY TRUST; DURING THE FISCAL YEAR WE HAVE LAID THE GROUNDWORK FOR HOLDING ASSETS IN POOLED TRUSTS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS. THE TRUST HAS BEEN OPERATING SINCE 2019.
