PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET ASSOCIATION WORKS TO STIMULATE, PROMOTE AND DEVELOP INTEREST IN DANCE AND RELATED ARTS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST THROUGH PROFESSIONAL BALLET PERFORMANCES, BALLET AND RECREATIONAL DANCE INSTRUCTION, AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION.

PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET COMPANY (PNB) CONSISTS OF 46 DANCERS AND A LIVE ORCHESTRA THAT ANNUALLY PRESENT SIX REPERTORY PRODUCTIONS OF FULL-LENGTH AND MIXED REPERTORY BALLETS, AND GEORGE BALANCHINE'S THE NUTCRACKER(R). OUR PROGRAMMING REFLECTS PNB'S DEDICATION TO MAKING BALLET ACCESSIBLE TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY SHOWCASING TRADITIONAL BALLET AND INNOVATIVE CONTEMPORARY CHOREOGRAPHY, PROVIDING LIVE ORCHESTRA MUSIC, OFFERING BEHIND-THE-SCENES EXPERIENCES, AND CULTIVATING NEW GENERATIONS OF ARTS PARTICIPANTS AND ENTHUSIASTS THROUGH DANCE EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT. WHILE MCCAW HALL WAS CLOSED DUE TO PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS, PERFORMANCES WERE PRESENTED ONLINE.


PNB SCHOOL IS REGARDED AS ONE OF THE PREEMINENT BALLET INSTITUTIONS IN THE NATION, SETTING THE STANDARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TRAINING. OUR PROFESSIONAL DIVISION AND SUMMER COURSE ATTRACT AND TRAIN TALENTED STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE UNITED STATES AND THE WORLD. THE SCHOOL OFFERS A COMPLETE PROFESSIONAL CURRICULUM TO ABOUT 638 STUDENTS ANNUALLY, AND PLAYS AN INSTRUMENTAL ROLE IN THE DEVELOPING THE COMPANY'S DISTINCTIVE STYLE. STUDENTS PERFORM IN AN END OF THE YEAR PERFORMANCE, AND WITH THE COMPANY AS NEEDED. THE SCHOOL OFFERS RECREATIONAL DANCE INSTRUCTION TO AN ADDITIONAL 175 INDIVIDUALS. SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING AROUND $427,000 ARE OFFERED TO HELP ATTRACT AND RETAIN PROMISING YOUNG ARTISTS. THE SCHOOL HAS A FACULTY OF 24 INSTRUCTORS AND 20 PIANO ACCOMPANISTS AT TWO LOCATIONS.


PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET (PNB) COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAM PRESENTS DANCE AND CURRICULA IN AREA CLASSROOMS, ONLINE AND AT WORKSHOPS. WE OFFER RESIDENCIES FOR STUDENTS GRADES PRE-K TO 12, AS WELL AS TEACHER WORKSHOPS, TRAINING AND CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT. SELECTED PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS ARE OFFERED FOR SCHOOL GROUPS. PNB'S GENERAL AUDIENCE EDUCATION INCLUDES STUDIO PREVIEWS AND DISCUSSIONS WITH CHOREOGRAPHERS AND ARTISTS.


PACIFIC NORTHWEST BALLET CONDITIONING WORKS WITH DANCERS, STUDENTS, STAFF AND OTHERS TO DEVELOP CORE STRENGTH AND STABILITY, LONG LEAN MUSCLES, INCREASED RANGE OF MOVEMENTS AND FLEXIBILITY. THEY SERVICE 325 UNIQUE CUSTOMERS IN 5,925 VISITS.
