THE URBAN INDIAN HEALTH INSTITUTE IS ONE OF 12 INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE FUNDED TRIBAL EPIDEMIOLOGY CENTERS AND THE ONLY CENTER WITH A NATIONAL FOCUS. THE WORK SUPPORTS THE NETWORK OF 62 URBAN INDIAN HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS (UIHO) LOCATED IN 26 STATES BY DESCRIBING DISPARITIES WITNESSED AMONG URBAN INDIANS THROUGH DATA ANALYSIS AND USING FINDINGS TO INFORM THE DESIGNING AND PLANNING OF CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE INTERVENTIONS.


OUTPATIENT AND INPATIENT CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY SERVICES TREATMENT WAS PROVIDED THROUGH 0 INPATIENT DAYS AND 1,106 OUTPATIENT SERVICES DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. IN FEBRUARY OF 2019, SIHB PAUSED SERVICES FOR OUR 65-BED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM, THUNDERBIRD TREATMENT CENTER. WE PLAN TO REOPEN IN 2023 WITH EXPANDED SERVICES REACHING 92 BEDS AND SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO PROVIDING IN-PATIENT MEDICALLY ASSISTED TREATMENT FOR PREGNANT AND PARENTING WOMEN.
