PARTNERSHIP FOR GROWTH LOS ANGELES WORKS TO ADDRESS CORE NEEDS VITAL TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS' QUALITY OF LIFE, SUCH AS FOOD ACCESS, JOB AND ECONOMIC SECURITY, PRIMARY EDUCATION SUPPORT, AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.

FREEDOM FARMS CONDUCTED AN RFP THAT RESULTED IN A COHORT OF 13 GRANTEE ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVING $780,000 IN FUNDING TO ESTABLISH AND EXPAND URBAN FARMS; LAUNCHED A PILOT YOUTHBUILD GROWERS PROGRAM TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT GARDENING AND THE OUTDOORS; INVESTED IN DEVELOPMENT OF A GROCERY STORE IN THE HISTORICAL AND FOOD INSECURE NEIGHBORHOOD OF LEIMERT PARK, SET TO OPEN NOVEMBER 2024.


RESOURCE CONNECTION EVENTS COLLABORATED WITH IT'S BIGGER THAN US TO: SPONSOR THEIR BACK 2 SCHOOL FESTIVAL REACHING 8,000 COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND SUPPORTED REFURBISHMENT OF CRENSHAW HIGH SCHOOL'S BASKETBALL COURT, AS WELL AS SPONSOR A HOLIDAY TOY GIVEAWAY FOR 300 STUDENTS AT HILLCREST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. PARTNERED WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO EXPAND AWARENESS REGARDING URBAN FARMING, READING LITERACY AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.


PROJECT JUBILEE CONDUCTED A SECOND COHORT OF PAID WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND WELLNESS SUPPORT WITH 30 TRANSITION AGED YOUTH WHO TRAINED IN THE FIELDS OF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, URBAN FARMING, OR FOOD SERVICE/BARISTA, AND RESULTED IN AN IMPRESSIVE 92% GRADUATION RATE.


READ LEAD FREEDOM SCHOOLS CONDUCTED A THIRD YEAR OF FREE SUMMER LITERACY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMING SERVING 30 K-8 STUDENTS, AND EXPANDED PROGRAM TO YEAR-ROUND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING TO SUPPORT 100 K-8 STUDENTS STUDENTS.
