.THE TUCSON AFFILIATE OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN (AAUW-TUCSON) ENGAGED THE TUCSON COMMUNITY THROUGH FIVE PROGRAMMING INITIATIVES. THOSE INCLUDED:.1. START SMART ARE SALARY NEGOTIATION WORKSHOPS TO BEGIN ADDRESSING THE GENDER WAGE GAP. AAUW-TUCSON EDUCATED APPROXIMATELY 100 PEOPLE ABOUT NEGOTIATING THEIR SALARY. SURVEY RESULTS WERE NOT ABLE TO BE EXTRAPOLATED BUT PRIOR YEAR RESULTS INDICATED AN AVERAGE OF 5% IN INCREASED SALARIES..2. AAUW-TUCSON, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS AND THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA, SUSPENDED THE ANNUAL RUNNING AND WINNING WORKSHOP FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS DUE TO COVID. THE DAY-LONG IN-PERSON WORKSHOP IS CONDUCTED AT A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL TO INTRODUCE GIRLS HOW TO BUILD A CAMPAIGN ABOUT ISSUES THEY CARE ABOUT AND TO RUN FOR AN ELECTED OFFICE. THE PROGRAM WILL RESUME WHEN RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED..3. AAUW-TUCSON AWARDED TWO VIRGINIA PALMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO FEMALE STUDENTS CONTINUING A DEGREE IN HIGHER EDUCATION AT PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE..4. AAUW-TUCSON, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA FOUNDATION, SPONSORED THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TUCSON REGIONAL EDUCATOR COLLABORATIVE (TREC) TEACHER LEADER'S PROGRAM. TREC IS A ONE-YEAR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 DESIGNATED TEACHERS ASPIRING TO ADVANCE IN THEIR EDUCATIONAL CAREER..5. THE VIRTUAL NETWORK, TUCSON TEACHER TRADING POST (TTTP), WAS CREATED BY AAUW-TUCSON. TTTP PROVIDES A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY WITH HELPFUL RESOURCES FOR K-12 TEACHERS. WITH OVER 300 TRADING POST MEMBERS, THE COMMUNITY BUILDS RELATIONSHIPS AND INSPIRES ONE ANOTHER BY SWAPPING EXPERIENCES, PROVIDING CREATIVE SOLUTIONS AND SHARING DIFFERING PERSPECTIVES.
